How Community Input Shapes Our AI Rankings
Written by Jesse Weltevreden
Many of our rankings are inspired by tool submissions and requests from the RankmyAI community. In this article, we explain how suggestions from users and companies help us identify new use cases, create new rankings, and offer free benchmarking based on web traffic, investment activity, and user reviews.
At RankmyAI, we believe that for nearly every practical use case, there are AI tools that can support it. Each month, we publish new rankings that highlight specific use cases. Some are widely known, like image generation or presentation tools. Others are much more specific, such as AI for fish monitoring or wildfire detection.
Which rankings we publish is based on a combination of our data and the selections made by our team. In addition, we regularly draw inspiration from our community through tool submissions and direct input from users.
Community Input
We often receive messages from people asking for rankings in specific areas. These ideas frequently lead to new publications. Some recent examples:
A ranking of AI wearables, suggested by Saskia
A ranking of AI powered stock market analysis, suggested by Niels
A ranking of presentation generation using AI, suggested by Anke
A ranking for autonomous vessels and autonomous underwater vehicles, requested by Bram
A ranking for vessel automation software, proposed by Eric
If we have enough tools in our database to support the topic, we create a new use case-specific ranking featuring the top 10 or top 25 AI tools in that category. This is done at no cost.
New Tools as Inspiration
Tool submissions are another important source of input. When AI companies ask to be included in our database and we notice that their use case is not yet part of a ranking, we often create one.
Some recent examples:
The addition of Hyperbrowser led to a new ranking on browser automation
The inclusion of Color Page AI resulted in an AI coloring page generator ranking
The addition of BookPlotter resulted in both our AI book summary ranking and AI book recommendations ranking
HairstyleAI inspired us to build the AI hairstyle generator ranking
Cloudairy inspired the AI mind map generator ranking
In these cases, a single tool submission led to the creation of a new ranking.
Benchmarking Without Barriers
Our goal is to make it easier for AI tools and companies to see how they compare to others working in the same space. Rankings are based on objective data, including web traffic, investment activity and user reviews.
We do this without asking for payment. Many AI tools directories rely on paid placements or curated listings, which often makes it difficult to see where a tool really stands. By offering open and data-based rankings, we aim to provide a more transparent view of the AI landscape. This way, you can see how much traction your tool gets in reality and how it performs within its own category.
If you have developed an AI tool and would like it to be included in our rankings, you can submit your AI tool for free through this form.
If you would like to explore a specific use case or suggest a new ranking, send us a message or leave a note on our public roadmap.
We are here to help you navigate the fast-moving AI landscape and better understand how tools perform across different use cases.
