AI Report Norway 2026: Norway's AI builders, ranked five ways

Written by Wilco Verdoold

The second AI Report Norway maps 692 Norwegian AI tools and companies, nearly twice as many as last year, and ranks them in five different ways. Who comes out on top depends on what you measure. Download the full report and see where each company stands.

AI Report Norway 2026 is the second data-driven overview of the companies building AI-powered products and services in Norway. It covers 692 AI tools and companies headquartered in the country, up from 351 in the 2025 edition. Most of that increase comes from a more thorough search rather than a landscape that doubled in a year, which makes this edition the most complete picture of Norwegian AI so far. For the first time, it also looks at money: publicly reported funding alongside financial support from Innovation Norway.

The report was produced by RankmyAI in close cooperation with the Digital Innovation for sustainable Growth (DIG) research centre at NHH Norwegian School of Economics, SNF Centre for Applied Research at NHH, and Abelia. The authors are Jesse Weltevreden and Bram Timmermans.

Five rankings, no single leader

The report ranks Norwegian AI tools and companies in five ways, all based on June 2026 data. Each list measures something different:

  • Top 250 Norwegian AI tools and companies overall: combined performance on website traffic, investment and user reviews.
  • Top 25 Norwegian AI tools and companies by website traffic: the largest online audiences.
  • Top 25 Norwegian AI tools and companies by investment: publicly reported funding.
  • Top 25 Norwegian AI tools and companies by user reviews: scores on major review platforms.
  • Top 25 fastest growing Norwegian AI tools and companies by website traffic: traffic growth from July 2025 to June 2026, compared with the twelve months before.

Riff leads both the overall ranking and the growth list, AutoStore tops investment and AI Finans tops user reviews. No company appears in all five lists, and only two, Tibber and Marketer, appear in four. That spread is the point. The company with the largest audience is not necessarily the one attracting the most capital, and a well-reviewed newcomer can outscore an established name on user satisfaction. Every position is earned in the data, not picked by an editor.

What separates the Top 250 from the rest

A place in the Top 250 says more than a position on a list. The 250 leading tools and companies make up 36 per cent of the 692 in the report, yet they account for 91 per cent of all publicly reported funding: USD 4.86 billion, against USD 472 million for all others combined. They are also older and larger. The Top 250 have been active for 12.9 years on average, against 7.7 years for the rest, and only 30 per cent have 10 or fewer employees, against 67 per cent outside the list.

Public money follows a similar but gentler pattern. Innovation Norway has supported 64 per cent of all companies in the report, and 55 per cent of its support went to the Top 250.

“While AI companies in Norway might be innovating and growing, they are not yet considered to be as mature as companies in other fields.”

Øystein Eriksen Søreide, CEO of Abelia, in the preface of the report

If your company appears in one of the five rankings, you are welcome to say so. The report and its rankings may be freely used and shared, as long as RankmyAI is credited as the source. A reference that holds up looks like this:

Ranked #[position] in the [name of the list], AI Report Norway 2026 by RankmyAI, in cooperation with NHH, SNF and Abelia.

For example: Ranked #4 in the Top 25 Norwegian AI tools and companies by investment, AI Report Norway 2026 by RankmyAI, in cooperation with NHH, SNF and Abelia.

One thing the rankings do not claim: they measure visibility, adoption, funding and user feedback, not quality, innovativeness or broader impact. “Ranked #12 in the Top 250” holds up. “Norway’s twelfth-best AI company” does not.
